damn it feels good to be a wildcat.

with a man like this screaming at you...i don't think i'd lose either.

GO STATE!  on to the elite eight!

and i leave you with this, the wabash cannonball, and the thought that every time kyle and i do wedding related things, the wildcats pull out a win.  engagement date - we beat ku in football,  day we choose a caterer - beat xavier.  aaannnnnd, it just so happens that i'm going wedding dress shopping tomorrow (please tell me that third times and charm, i'm already getting tired of it). one of my bridesmaid's boyfriend's told me to "keep looking until i found a dress, because i want a win tomorrow night!"  i'm hoping to oblige!

tonights gonna be a good night...

well, it better be.  someone owes me something for the crappy day i've had.

i'm not even going to get into it, but i had a crap morning at work.  not really going to go into any details, i don't want anything to get back to the powers that be.  i got annoyed at a coworker (i'm sure he noticed, i'm pretty sure i was literally shaking with anger) and i had an issue with one of my products in a building that's under construction.  which i didn't get to deal with because i was dealing with the aforementioned coworker's problem. ugh.

so, anyways, i had a crappy day.

luckily, while g-chatting it up with my one of my bridesmaids, kara, she mentioned a little bridal shop that some of her friends got their dresses at in macpherson.  i looked it up online and it carries not one but TWO of my favorite dress designers!  i. am. super. pumped.  i'm going on saturday to try some on.  i'm kind of getting down to the point where i need to order it already or i'm going to have to get it rush shipped.  the designers are mori lee and maggie sottero.  if anyone feel like being girly, i'm taking suggestions on which ones to try on.  i have a list a mile long, because i LOOOOOOOVE both designers (i have to admit...maggie is the overall winner...) and didn't get to try very many sottero dresses on at the one place in wichita that carries them, they didn't have the whole line there.  i'm hoping this place has some more!

in addition to that, when i got home i got the baker's twine i ordered on saturday!  how's THAT for fast shipping!  jeez, i haven't even gotten my wedding shoes that i ordered last thursday!  (i may or may not have ordered those because they have the name katie in them.  and of course because they are red.  it's possible.)  i'm going to use the twine for some wedding stuff...can't wait to show you guys!

this was probably the most boring post you've ever read.  no?  thanks for listening to be bitch and moan.  :)

AHHHH!!!

i am so excited about this so i had to blog about it super quick!

i just got BOTH my mom and my husband-to-be convinced that this should be my wedding cake...

how AWESOME is that!!  rice krispie treats!!  and i'm totally diggin' the berries on there.  imagine a blue ribbon and just strawberries...mmm.....

i'm also planning on doing some of these...

(okay...they probably won't look like that because i don't like marzipan or fondant, so it will be buttercream most likely...but cupcakes none the less!  we'll see what the bakery can do...)

and maybe even a few of these...

PIES!!!

my dessert buffet is looking better and better the more i plan!  mmm...those desserts will make those workout SOOOOOO worth it!

i think of my life and how it would look like on a blog.

seriously.  do you guys think of situations that you get yourself into and think, "now this will be an AWESOME post!"

and then you totally forget what the heck it was that you were going to blog about.

that happened to me today.

so....yeah.

i guess that's it.

except i got a bunch of stuff for the wedding at goodwill tonight.  i love goodwill.  seriously, who doesn't love goodwill?  i love their mission and the fact that i can buy vases for my wedding for 50 cents to a dollar.  HOLLA.  that's right, all my vases and decorations are going to be "found" items.  or vintage.  whatever you want to call it.

i should talk more about the wedding on here.

because i'm pretty sure that everyone at work is getting real tired of me talking about it every five minutes.  it's not that i'm obsessive, but it's like everything they talk about reminds me of something that i need to do.

let's see....what can i tell you about it so far....

1. it's sept. 25th at 7 pm, around sunset and it's the observance of the fall equinox in wichita, ks.  it was kind of a coincidence that it's on that day, but i like it.  half day, half night.  complete opposites, just like kyle and i.  also about the equality in our relationship.  the real reason it's that date is because it didn't interfere with corn harvest, wheat harvest, boating season or ksu football.  and then stupid bill snyder had to go and change the game to a home game.  at least my parents are still planning on showing up.  not so sure about my little brother.  i wouldn't put it past him.
2. it's at the exploration place in wichita.  love that building.  i wanted something that had large windows, was kid friendly and made an architectural statement.  i think i found it there!  i love it.  we went last weekend and it just reminded me what a FUN building it is!  we are holding the wedding in the grand hall and are also getting two of the exhibits!  they were surprisingly cheap to rent compared to the actual space.  :)
3. my colors are light aqua (think tiffany blue) and cherry red.  super excited about that!  leads to the next things...
4. it's going to have a retro/vintage feel.  i think my colors really lead me to that.  i love the 40s and 50s, so that's sort of the era i'm going for.  i've started purchasing my decorations (obviously...you already read that...) i'm doing milk glass vases with red flowers and blue mason (or bell or whatever) jars with votive candles in them for the tables and planning on making some cake stands out of plates and candlesticks (more on that later...) and of course making my own invites, etc.

that's all i can really think of right now.  i'm sure i'm missing stuff, but i'm kind of tired and honestly, who really read this whole post anyway?!

thanks if you did.  :)

very cool.

thanks mom, for pointing it out to me!

you know you're old when...

...you ask for things that you NEED instead of things that you WANT for christmas (or hanukkah, kwanzaa, whatnot...)

but isn't it great when the things that you need ARE the things you want?!?!  it's freaking sweet!

for example, last night i made cookies with the cookie sheets my mom gave me for christmas.  awesome.  they didn't stick!  i asked for them when i was on the phone with her baking cookies for my work that i was having to scrape the stupid things off the sheets i have now.  wilton rocks my socks off.  love them.

also, i broke out the cricut today.  it's so easy!  i asked for it because i wanted to do stuff for the wedding, but i've already had someone at work ask me to do decals for her son's room!  i'm thinking i could totally start doing this on the side.  now i'm going to ask for some tools for it for my birthday from my mom, i see the usefulness of them now!  the cartridges are pretty pricey, so i want to invest in a program called sure cuts a lot (nice name, huh?) because i already have a TON of fonts that i have from school and doing digital boards so i don't see the point in buying cartridges with fonts on them, i'll just get some of the shapes maybe.  anyone else have one?  any suggestions?  and please don't say get the expressions, because i don't think i'm ready to invest another 200 bucks in that quite yet....

i'm a follower

yes, i'm jumping on a bandwagon.  sigh.  i know, right?  it is so not me.

relax though, it's just a small bandwagon.  so small it's just one word.

that's right, i'm joining the millions of others that are not making a new year's resolution, but instead, having a new year's word.

and mine is...perspective.

boring, right?  i know, but it sounds much worse than i mean, you see.

i'm not going to find a different perspective of myself, but actually the environment around me.  you see, i'm not a big idea person, i'm a details person.  (what can i say, it's a necessity in the architectural world.  i found my niche, for shiz.)  and what a lot of people don't understand is that when you are a details person, you can't really see the big picture until you step back.  and then when i do step back, i'm all like, "what the crap?  that is totally not what i was going for."

still not getting it?

umm...okay...here's some examples.

we had a new year's party here, right?  i'm pretty sure i mentioned it.  anyway, we did.  it was a housewarming/birthday/engagement/new year's party and we had a bunch...okay 20, so not that much...of people over.  and new year's was over a week ago.....aaaannnndddd...i still have a kitchen chair, a bowl of "fancy" m&m's, three completely burnt out candles, and an entire bar set up in my living room.  complete with mixers, wine, liquor and citrus fruits.

yeah, i just realized that today.

but do i care?  not really.  you know why?

my books are all in alphabetical order on my bookshelves, i've got all my plates and cooking equipment stacked in order of size, my cans and boxes of food are all group first by type (veggies, fruit, etc.) and then in alphabetical order, and my closet it organized by type of clothing then length of leg/arm/dress, and then by color.

oh and i cleaned my fridge out last night.  like with soap and water and sponge cleaned.

i know.  i have a problem.

so, perspective.  here's to making lists and actually FOLLOWING THROUGH with them.  starting a project and actually FINISHING IT instead of worrying about the font i want to use.  CLEANING MY HOUSE without stopping to repaint the tiny spot of paint that chipped off of something.

here's to changing some perspective in my life.

do YOU have a word?  tell me about it, let's take on 2010 together!
