i'm dying...

okay, so that's slightly melodramatic...

but seriously, i'm so sore today. i played my last game of indoor soccer last night and i hurt. so. bad. for those of you that are goddard alums, i played the womack brother's team last night. we got beat, but not by the normal 20 to zip...it was only 6 to 13 or something like that. and i was told i actually did a pretty decent job.

which leads me back to the fact that i'm super sore. i rolled my ankle at one point [after running cross country in high school i have, like, NO tendons left in either ankle. it's kinda gross actually, i can stand on my ankle instead of my foot. that's how i stretch. kyle pretends to gag when i do it. jerk.] anyway, so i rolled my ankle, which sucks. and now i can't wear heels to work. which i usually do, almost every day. i think i wear them because i feel more powerful. i'm already quite tall, like 5'8"ish, so when i wear heels i'm almost as tall as the majority of the men in my firm. which is awesome. because we are totally outnumbered here. seriuosly, we have one female architect, three female interior designers, one landscape designer and two cadd techs. that's it. nada. we have like 60 employees! the rest of the women are admin and support staff...totally lame.

so obviously i NEED my super power...aka...my heels.

random babble

i'm at my parent's house right now...on a "school" night (as i like to call work nights...too depressing to call them work nights). anyway, my hot water heater wasn't working AGAIN and i didn't feel like going to work tomorrow all smelly. and my mom and i refinished my dresser. you know, the one in my entry way, see my apartment tour to refresh your memory....

you back? okay. anyway, last night i came over here and sanded and filled some spots on the dresser and then i spray painted it tonight (eek...horrible to admit, i'm usually an eco-friendly person i promise, but it was WAYYYY cheaper, even though my parents own a hardware store. like way cheaper) it is a nice semi-flat black. so it will pretty much be like the my entertainment center, a nice semi-flat color. it's drying upstairs, but when it's back at my apartment, i'll take some photos of it for you. promise.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

does anyone know the laws about renting. doesn't it say somewhere that hot water is a necessity for life and it is an EMERGENCY when you don't have it. i hate my complex people, they think nothing is a big deal. my toilet seat was broken from the day i moved in until last week. and they only came to fix it because i called EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. to annoy them. i mean, i should just stop paying rent and get evicted. it's a better deal than breaking my lease. don't rent from cedarbrooke, i'm telling you, they suck. or any village park i should add, they are all the same people.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i haven't blogged in a while and feel like a loser. sorry, guys, i'm sure you are all sitting on the edge of your seat to hear from me. right... :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

you know how i blogged about being afraid i was going to get laid off? well, my friend kara from school got laid off, she was working for a large firm in seattle. she's moving back home (which is newton for you kansasans) and is looking for a job in wichita. any job. so if you know of any, send them my way. i'm still worried that i might get laid off. i wasn't too worried until we hired a lady that used to work for us here in the wichita office to work in our kc office, and she has her license. i have a year and a half until i can get mine. so...yeah...i'm pretty worthless to the company right now. although i do have a pretty full project load right now, so maybe they will feel sorry for me. maybe. but probably not.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i'm thinking of buying a house. i pretty much figured out that i can get a house for around $80K...i was thinking college hill or riverside area. i found some awesome fixer uppers. my mom and i are going to look at a few on saturday and if i like them i'm going to take my boyfriend (who grew up working on rental homes all his life) to go look at them and tell me how much work it will need and how much it will cost. it's crazy, i could seriously BUY a house and my mortgage payment would be less than what i pay in rent. rent is redic in this town. for reals. wichita sucks sometimes. and i even live in the semi-ghetto. dang.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my dog just walked by me and he still smells like skunk. not a lot, just enough to make your nose burn. he got sprayed THREE AND A HALF weeks ago. any suggestions?

whoa. WHOA. whoa. WHOA. whoa. WHOA. whoa.

alright. i gotta brag a bit. sorry in advance.

i went to target last night...big surprise, i know, BUT. i saved so much money! i'm so proud of myself! i got one of those flip, clip, save booklets in the mail that they always send out and i'm SO NOT KIDDING YOU, everything i bought that i had a coupon for WAS ALREADY ON SALE. holla. i was also super excited because i went with a friend who also has a cat and we both needed litter and if you bought two things of litter for $22, you got a $5 gift card. SCHAWEET!

anyway, my total bill was $67.60 and i saved $32.99 with coupons and sales. i also had a $35.00 gift card from christmas, so i only paid $36.47 with tax.

now THAT'S what i call an accomplishment!

i must have been super good this year...

because i made out like a bandit!!

okay, maybe not a BANDIT, but i got lots of cool stuff! here's a sampling...well, most of it...i couldn't find pictures for some of them though so here's what i could find.

a set of two spin brush pros from my mom and dad, they are AWESOME!

diamond scrabble edition from kyle's parents. now if i can only get him to play with me...hmm....

a set of these rubbermaid takealongs....

and THESE rubbermaids! they are so awesome, my fridge is already full of them. the lids snap together and then the bottom of the container also snaps to the lid, AMAZING! got both of those from my mom and dad. i didn't have any lids that matched my old stuff, which was mostly stuff i had gained from each roommate i went through in college...or stole...whatev.

a white pea coat from kyle's mom and dad. it's not this one, it's from kohl's, but i couldnt' find it...it's longer...i like them to cover my arse. (what, it's cold in kansas...)
i ended up with THREE steve berry books! if you like da vinci code, read these books. i got the amber room, the venetian betrayal and the third secret.

new pillows from my mom and dad. (are you noticing a trend...i tend to ask for stuff that i really need and know that i'll use over and over again...)

a subscription to real simple for my birthday from kyle's parents. i LOVE this magazine!
A NEW CAMERA FROM KYLE! it's so cute and little! i have another one that is "fancy" that i got two years ago from mom and dad and i always feel bad taking it places, so i wanted one i could just throw in my purse and take out with us!
a dustbuster from mom and dad. mine's white with red accents...it's already been used and is hanging in my kitchen!
YESSSS....clean water! from mom and dad!
my little brother got me new towels! yellow and light grey. thank, topher!
a birthday gift from kyle, a penguin ice cube serving bucket. (penguin's are my favorite animal...)
kyle's brother got me this book for my birthday! i also got a set of scented stuff from his brother's finance (that's another story for another day) and a new copy of to kill a mockingbird. my old copy was missing the cover and the first eight pages...quite obviously my favorite book!
another one from mom and dad....a new rolling pin!

how was YOUR christmas!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
