Alright dudes.

Sorry for the Negative Nancy post yesterday.  But it's been quite a week.  Here it is in review.

Sunday my car got stuck at Kyle's house.  We moved it down by the barn so it wouldn't get hailed on.  And instead it got stuck in the mud.  Sheesh.  So I'm driving Kyle's POS Cavalier.

Monday I had to wake up at 4 am to get to work on time.  The storms were so bad I decided to stay at Kyle's house and drive to Wichita before work.  That was a mistake.  I should have just come in late.

Monday night I get home and am cleaning up.  Only to discover that there is rainwater in my dining room.  On my carpet.  And in my kitchen.  Gross.  So I call maintenance and they come and see it and tell me they'll be back in an hour or so with fans.  They never showed.

Tuesday I woke up feeling horrible.  I'm assuming from the mold that is growing in my apartment.  I went and looked at it after work and they still hadn't done anything so I packed up and went to my parents house with my dog and cat.

Wednesday I was super late to work due to a traffic accident and then had a crap day.  I turned in a 14/30 notice to my apartment that basically says they have to fix it up and or they have to let me out of my lease.

Today was much better.  I drove my mom's Jeep to work (thanks, mom!) and didn't have to deal with starting the Cav every time I got in it.  I also got a free lunch.  SCHAWEET!

Here's to the weekend!

A Day in the Life...

4.29.09

6:30 am: Roll out of bed at my parents house.  I'm currently residing here as there is mold growing in my carpet at my apartment.  More on this later.  Hop in the shower.

6:45 am: Remember why I hate showering here.  The water softener makes you feel like you can never quite get clean.  And the water pressure sucks in the downstairs bathroom.  Thank goodness I have a place to shower though.  Love my parents for that.

7:15 am: Make a bagel to go.

7:30 am: All packed and ready to go.  Walk out the door.  Get in Kyle's car (mine is stuck in the mud at his house...three hours away...)  Put key in ignition and can't get the stupid thing to turn.

7:35 am: Call Kyle and kindly ask him WHY IN THE HELL THE KEY STILL ISN'T WORKING.

7:36 am: Have heated discussion his car and why I hate it so much.

7:40 am: Give up for a second and run inside.  At this point I have to pee.

7:48 am: After 5 more minutes of trying I get the car to start.

8:02 am: Realize one exit too late that there is a lot of traffic in front of me, which is odd for Wichita.

8:21 am: Finally pull out of the traffic and get to full speed on the highway after four miles of inching forward.

8:30 am: Walk into work 30 minutes late.  Log into Gmail and tell Kyle how much I hate his car.  Again.

9:15 am: Realize I haven't done something that needs to be done today.  Start to do it.

9:17 am: Someone comes by and asks me why I haven't done it yet.  Shiznit.

9:45 am: Hand the completed drawing to them.

10:15 am: Set up meeting with PM to discuss specs tomorrow.

10:16 am: Realize I need to do about sixteen hours of work before I'm ready for that meeting.  Shiznit.

11:25 am: Print off a 14/30 notice (look it up) to turn into my apartment complex.

11:45 am: Leave work early to hand in notice.  Car takes another ten minutes before the key works.  ARGH!!

12:00 pm: Pull into complex to realize the office is closed.  Until 1:15.

12:01 pm: WHAT THE F#(%!?!?!  Walk into apartment and realize they still haven't done anything about my wet carpet.  And it smells.  Like butt.  Or mold, same thing.

12:05 pm: Text boss and tell her I'll be late.  Go get McDonald's, run to the bank and come back and sit and wait to office to open.  Car takes ten minutes to turn the key each time I get out.  You'd think I'd learn my lesson.

1:30 pm: Have assistant manager of complex sign for notice and sign my copy.  Think I'm doing really well at this point.

1:45 pm: Still trying to get the key to turn in the ignition after fifteen minutes of trying.

1:47 pm: Stop trying.  Get out and start walking to garage to drive my Jeep to work.  Realize half way there the garage key is at Kyle's house.  Three hours away.  And the extra copy is in the apartment office.  Whom I just pissed off.

1:55 pm: Get the key to turn and leave for work.

2:05 pm: Get to work where two angry phone messages await me.  Shiznit.

2:10 pm: Realize that my thumb is actually swollen from turning the key to Kyle's car.  Ouch.

4:45 pm: Have all my stuff done for tomorrow and feel good about it at the same time that someone walks by and tells me I need to do some more.  Great...

5:05 pm: Julie calls me and we head to go find her an apartment.

6:45 pm: Julie laughs at me while I get the stupid car to turn the key.  Only takes 2 minutes this time.  YESSSS!!!!  Fist pump.

7:15 pm: Back in Goddard at mom and dad's, have delish dinner and start to wind down.

8:15 pm: Realize I DIDN'T SIGN THE NOTICE I GAVE MY APARTMENT!!  oops....

8:30 pm: Sign my copy, fax it to them with a made up story about how the lady gave me the wrong one back when she signed it...right...

9:00 pm: Call Kyle to tell him my mistake and prepare to get yelled at.  Surprised to find he feels bad about my bad day and says it's not a big deal.  WHEW!

Do you ever have days like this?  I could go on, but I won't.  This really just scratches the surface of my bad day...

How was YOUR day?  :)

Dear Revit,

You are entirely too slow and I hate you right now. Please run faster so I can have a better day. Thank you.

Love,

hmm....

I received an email yesterday that went a little something like this:

SPECIAL ALL STAFF MEETING

Please join us Thursday at 4 pm in Conference Room C for some exciting news!

Thoughts that went through my head:

WTF??  Am I going to get laid off?  Surely not, they wouldn't call that exciting news.  Well, maybe they all secretly hate me.  No, no, no, they don't hate me.  At least not all of them.  COULD THEY?  NO!  There's that rumor of a merger, but you didn't even hear that from someone in your company it was someone else!  Well...still...maybe that is it...maybe it's a joint venture!  That would be awesome.  Not.  Although I'd probably get a raise then...

UGH!!  I HATE not being in the know!

PS of the week...

sad, but true.
Leah over at Look For That Silver Lining tagged me!  I secretly love tags...shhh...don't tell anyone.  Anyway, I'm supposed to write ten random things about myself and then tag someone else, so here goes...

1.  I'm really looking forward to my future right now.  Not that right now is all that bad, but I have a feeling that good things are coming my way!  Kyle is probably going to be moving to Wichita in the next six months or so (still looking for a job if anyone knows of anything...) and we'll be buying a house.  Just waiting to find out where!  Work is still going great and it looks as if I'll be really busy pretty soon.  In fact, I worked seven hours this weekend.

2.  I freaking LOVE Law and Order.  Most crime shows I'm not a fan of, but there is just something about it.  Especially SVU (I'm totally watching right now...) mainly because Stabler is such a hottie.

3.  I love my job.  I didn't think I'd ever say that after I worked at the BEST PLACE EVER in college.  But I can honestly say that I really, truly love being an interior designer.  I get to do cool projects at work and I have to say the perks are great.  Things like free food, free samples of products and today I even brought home a FREE sample chair that a rep didn't want back!  It's awesome and silver and perfect for a desk chair!  This weekend I took the tiles I hand painted and sealed and made into trivets for Kyle's parents (technically a Christmas present...I'm just a little late...) but still, I get cool stuff for free and that's awesome.  Here's a smattering of things I've made from free stuff...

christmas decorations made of 4x4 inch bathroom tile.

4.  I'm addicted to Diet Coke.  Just Coke products in general.  I also like to collect Coke brand things, especially anything vintage.

5.  I'm trying to start selling homemade cards online.  I dabble in graphic design on the side and can't wait to turn it into something lucrative.  I'm working on getting set up on Esty.com, so be sure to watch for updates!

6.  I love to watch my pets sleep.  They are so incredibly peaceful looking.  I think of them as my children.  I spoil them rotten, too.  Lord knows what I'll do when I actually have kids!

7.  I collect penguin stuff.  I love penguins and think they are so adorable.  Can't help it.  See Happy Feet and you'll think the same thing.

8.  I dream of buying this house in College Hill, but I'm realistic.  I know I'm going to find something I really love, but I'm so impatient.  Sucks to not get what you want right when you want it...

9.  I have absolute faith in my boyfriend, Kyle.  He just knows he's going to make something out of himself and I can't wait for that to happen for him.  He's the smartest guy I know.  He dreams of owning his own firm someday and I'm all for it.  I can't wait to see what he makes of himself!

10.  I love that I can honestly call my best friends from high school my best friends still.  We may not see each other as much as we would like, but when we get together it's like we were never apart.  I love my girls and would do anything for them!

Ok, KU girl, its your turn!

in case you haven't heard...

april over at april showers is having a giveaway MONTH! it's her favorite month...for good reasons...and now it just might be mine!

okay...that's a lie. december will always be my favorite month, but i like april, we even have the same middle name. and she's freakin' hilarious, so head on over and read her sexy blog!

update on 1001 things...

6. Organize my desk/crafting area

It might not looks organized to you...but trust me, this is great for me.

26. Recommend someone for a job

Self explanatory I'd say...

27. Get GLA to start recycling more than paper and pop cans

We start next month!  This wasn't fully my influence, but I complained a lot, along with a few others and we are getting a dumpster for both office and personal use!

28. Tutor someone taking the LEED exam

I have a lot of friends getting ready to take it and I'm glad to help them!

57. Meet Little Boy Brunke

One week after John Issac Brunke he was born, I got to see him!!  Can't wait to see him again, and his sister Maddie of course!  The Youngers-Brunke crowd had better get ready for some pool parties this summer...

82. Sell my clothes that don’t fit on Ebay

I've made well over $150 and I'm only about half way through my pile!  Everything I don't sell, I donate to charity...

85. Plan a shower for someone

We had a wedding shower at work for another interior designer.  She works in our Houston office, but interned in Wichita and is from Newton (by Wichita) and she went to college with me.  It was fun!  We went to Sugar Sisters, one of my favorite places to eat here in 'Ta Town.  YUM!

88. Frame my K-State Diploma

I ended up using the thing they give you when you walk, hey...it was cheap.  :)

89. Frame my LEED Certificate

I bought a floating frame so I could frame both the certificate and the letter I got from GBCI!  I LOVE it!

94. Give money to Telefund 2009 if they call

My friend Josie ended up being the one to call me, so OF COURSE I pledged!  Sigh...what will I do when I don't know anyone in college any more?  I'm getting so old.

SO!  I can check those off the list!  On to the next set...

caterkiller is at it again...

so i haven't been blogging a lot lately.  i'm not sure why, just haven't had anything to blog about i guess.  tonight i'm in a bad mood though, so i'm going to dump it all here into outer space and maybe it will make me feel better.

kyle's boss got laid off today.  he was the only guy that ever stuck up for kyle there.  (kyle tends to get himself in some trouble.  he's kind of a jerk when he knows he's right.  take a normal guy and times it by ten and that's how much of a jerk he is.  he even made a grown man cry.)  so yeah, kyle isn't feeling so hot right now.  the other "new" guy got laid off as well.  he's been with cat longer, but not in the wamego facility.  so...basically kyle is next on the chopping block.  he's already started applying for other jobs about three months ago, but he says he's going to pump it up a lot and just get the heck out of there before it all blows up in his face.

what's ironic is in january he was offered a buy-out.  they would have given him 9 months pay at 75% (still three times the amount i make, of course) and he would have had 6 months of benefits still.  sheesh.  hindsight sure is 20/20 isn't it?  (of course, i TOLD him to take it...but obviously he didn't listen...)

keep us in your thoughts, he needs to get out of that toxic environment.  i'll keep you posted.
